Manuel Rico is head of the investigative team at infoLibre, a Spanish digital newspaper. infoLibre is the only Spanish media that collaborates in IE’s investigations. Journalist since 1990, Rico has worked among other media in El Mundo, Interviu, Tiempo and Público, and was co-founder and editor of infoLibre between 2013 and 2020. He is also a lawyer, interested in transparency issues, and has a master’s degree in Communication from the University of Missouri-Columbia (1999), where he studied thanks to a Fulbright scholarship. Rico has strengthen now his involvement with IE in order to seek ways to increase IE’s presence in Spain. Author of ‘¡Vergüenza! El escándalo de las residencias’, a book that tries to explain how large multinationals made a business of elderly care.
