In tutto il continente europeo ci sono milioni di cittadini che devono accettare impieghi precari e sottopagati anche se, nel suo complesso, l'economia sta andando meglio che negli ultimi dieci anni.

Nell’eurozona più di cinque milioni e mezzo di persone hanno trovato un nuovo lavoro dalla fine del 2012. Secondo Eurostat, però, quattro di questi lavori su cinque sono part time o a tempo determinato e sono in larga parte sottopagati.

Nell’ultima relazione della Commissione europea sul mercato del lavoro nell’UE si legge che la maggior parte dei precari vorrebbe qualcosa di diverso: una posizione a tempo indeterminato e a tempo pieno.

Il “boom lavorativo” europeo è per la maggior parte di bassa qualità, ha concluso la Merrill Lynch, la parte di Bank of America che si occupa di gestione dei patrimoni. Una brutta notizia per la maggior parte dei lavoratori.

Olivier Blanchard, che per molto tempo fino al 2015 è stato capo economista del Fondo Monetario Internazionale, ha avvertito che “Tutte queste modalità di lavoro precario sono molto costose sia per i diretti interessati, sia per la società”. 

Ma perché la “precarizzazione del lavoro”, così chiamata dai sociologi, è arrivata a questi livelli? E cosa bisogna fare per fermarla?
