Executive Director, Barcelona
Peter studied International Relations at the University of Ljubljana (1998-2004) and has dedicated most of his time since then to activism and civil society engagement. He was active in the field of youth work for 12 years, starting with the Young European Federalists (Secretary-General of JEF-Europe, 2008-2010) and finishing as president of the European Youth Forum (2011-2014), advocating for the rights of young people and their organisations. From 2013 to 2021, Peter worked at the Open Society Initiative for Europe, where he led the work on civil liberties, whistleblowing and the right to protest, all of which link to civic space issues in Western Europe. Today, he serves as a volunteer board member at Citizens for Europe and My Balkans. Peter lives in Barcelona and his main passions are Europe, human rights, gender justice, citizen’s empowerment, tennis, and languages (he speaks eight). Together with Alessia Cerantola, Peter co-leads Investigate Europe and is responsible for external representation, financial management, organisational development and outreach to readers.
