CIJ Lyra McKee Fellow, London
Ava Scott-Nadal is a London-based freelance journalist with a gold-standard NCTJ. She has just graduated from the Lyra Mckee Fellowship with the Centre for Investigative journalism where she sharpened her skills in building investigations from scratch, data journalism and sending FOIs. She was supported by the Journalism Diversity Fund and Bloomberg to earn her NCTJ. Her primary interests lie in technology journalism and she is continuing her partnership with the CIJ through their Investigating the AI industry training, so she can produce journalism that holds technology elites to account. She has worked in local journalism covering topics such as care homes starting to rely on AI companions to improve the mental welfare of residents; the rise of the US-style dorm in London and community action against unwanted developments in South East London. She hopes to bring her previous experiences producing podcasts and working in film and television to the multimedia portion of her fellowship.
