Yamina Saheb is a scientist and whistleblower for the Energy Charter Treaty. The treaty enables companies to claim billions in compensation from states before international arbitration tribunals if they feel unfairly treated by the states’ energy or climate policies. In this interview with Investigate Europe, Saheb, a former employee of the treaty's administration, the Energy Charter Secretariat, explains how the ECT works and why she considers it incompatible with Europe's goals of climate neutrality. The interview is part of Investigate Europe's investigation on the ECT.
