Multimedia Producer

Investigate Europe (IE), a network of cross-border journalists from across Europe, is looking for a Multimedia Producer to join its team.

About the Role

The IE Multimedia Producer will coordinate Investigate Europe’s digital infrastructure and help deliver creative, original and smart stories for our growing website, newsfeed, newsletter, and social media channels.

Our team of reporters work together for months on one investigation, and publish their findings and articles at the same time. Articles are published by the reporters in national outlets across Europe (in local languages). Moreover, we also produce exclusive content for our website and social media channels in four different languages (English, German, Italian, and French).

We are looking for an online producer and a skilled multimedia story-teller. You should have experience working with a variety of new media and channels, ideally also implementing web projects from concept development to realisation.

This role will serve as the implementation force behind innovative delivery of our biggest stories and series as an integral part of IE’s Outreach Team that coordinates the efforts to elevate our work, make it resonate with readers and maximize its impact.

Responsibilities

  • Produce new forms of presenting journalistic content, including being in charge of creating and commissioning videos, graphics, interactives and other visual content that delight a digital audience across IE’s channels.
  • Visualise web changes and liaise with developers on the implementation of your ideas, and oversee developers’ work.
  • Understand and further develop our user funnels on the website and optimise these according to UX standards.
  • Assist the team of reporters in showing their data analysis results in the best possible way.
  • Project manage the back-end of Investigate Europe’s digital presence, including the donation user journeys and client management system.
  • Develop a production plan and schedule for assigned publications.
  • Stay updated with latest media techniques, web trends and production technologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to shoot/edit video and create or commission other visual materials, experience of industry-standard editing tools.
  • Tech savviness and readiness to deal with both sides of the digital output: external web appearance, but also the behind-the-scenes processes leading to the final result.
  • Be intellectually curious, a creative and nimble thinker and passionate about producing stories in innovative ways.
  • Good project management skills combined with the ability to keep commissions on vision, on budget and on deadline.
  • English proficiency; other language skills welcomed.
  • Excellent coordination skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Familiarity with, or desire to become familiar with, European affairs and cross-border reporting, including EU institutions.
  • Background and/or previous experience working on journalistic projects or with news media or press and media related work at an NGO.
  • Ability to work successfully with a cross-border team, across differing language proficiency levels and cultural backgrounds.

What we offer

  • A full-time position (minimum requirement 80%)
  • The opportunity to work with an award-winning cross-border team engaging in an exciting model of journalism
  • Fair pay and flexible working conditions
  • Training opportunities
  • Great autonomy of action
  • Friendly atmosphere and open working culture

This will be a remote position based anywhere in Europe.
